How zebra blinds actually work
Two fabric layers are stitched in alternating horizontal bands and mounted to a single rotating rear vane. As the vane rotates, the sheer bands align with the solid bands (full privacy), or the sheer bands align with gaps in the solid layer (soft, filtered light). There's no visible mechanism change — it looks like one continuous fabric shifting character.

Where it beats a standard roller shade
A roller shade with a light-filtering fabric will always let some visibility through from outside at night once your lights are on. Zebra blinds solve that: slide to full solid alignment for evening privacy, then open it back up for daytime softness — same shade, two very different jobs.
